Marvel’s ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Cast To End With Third Season The next season of the upcoming third season will mark the end of the Disney plus revival of the street-level Marvel series. The decision has been taken just months after production on the third season wrapped and while the last episodes are still in post-production. The third season will release in 2027.
The news represents a major shift for the series. Marvel officially announced Daredevil: Born Again’s renewal for season three in September 2025, the first TV series from Marvel Studios on Disney+ to be ordered to a third season. Then Marvel Studios head of streaming, television and animation Brad Winderbaum said the production would start in 2026.
Season 3 has finished filming. Vincent D’Onofrio has announced that season three of is already in the cans as of July. The show has been working in post-production. Because of this the decision to end the show is made after the main filming was done.
This marks the end of Dario Scardapane’s run as showrunner. Marvel chose to not renew his contract while he exits during Season 3’s post-production mode. Reports have indicated that the series is near its completion, but it is uncertain, which producer or manager will handle what is left to do.
Matt Murdock the blind lawyer by day and masked hero Daredevil by night will be reprised by Charlie Cox. The show will also feature Vincent D’Onofrio who is set to reprise his role as Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin. The conflict was a longstanding one in Born Again and it is still one of the main plot points.
Also, several other characters connected to Marvel’s Netflix series will appear in Season 3. Krysten Ritter will reprise her role as Jessica Jones, while Mike Colter and Finn Jones are set to reprise their Marvel TV roles as Luke Cage and Iron Fist, respectively. This will make the Disney+ series more closely tied to the Marvel characters established in Netflix.
This is in particular significant because season 2 had broadened the series’ links to those characters. Jessica Jones was introduced in season 2, and its conclusion set up a different trajectory for Matt Murdock and the street-level corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Scardapane had previously hinted that the creative team had taken care to leave open plot threads from the Netflix Marvel series that Born Again could explore.
The previous Daredevil TV show, which aired for three seasons on Netflix from 2015 to 2018 before its cancellation. Charlie Cox reprised his role at the end for Marvel Studios, debuting in the larger MCU before the series transitioned into Daredevil: Born Again in 2025 on Disney+. The revamp of Daredevil had the same number of seasons as the first show, but this time created for Marvel Studios and Disney+.
