The report looked at 192 private beaches and took samples at least nine times during the season. It found that 77 percent of the beaches got A or B grades, which’s the highest percentage since 2022. This is a 5 percent improvement from the year. The good results show that the efforts to protect the environment manage wastewater and conserve the community are working well on the North Shore.
Some of the beaches are in Suffolk County and Nassau County. There are eleven A+ beaches in Suffolk County and six in Nassau County. Some of the spots include Bayville, Glen Cove beaches, Crab Meadow Beach in Northport, Callahans Beach in Smithtown, Port Jefferson West, Wildwood State Park in Wading River and Southold Beach on the North Fork. These beaches had low bacteria levels and met the strict safety standards for swimming.
